Strategic procurements involve multiple stakeholders and significant budgets and have a big impact on business performance. They may represent only 5% of transactions, but often account for 50% of annual spend and 90% of procurement risk.
"Using AWARD saved me a huge amount of time. The reporting capability made it phenomenally straightforward. It was very easy to give quality feedback to the unsuccessful bidders and show them where they had fallen short of our requirements. Most importantly, using AWARD gave the Criminal Justice Performance Board a great deal of confidence in us and our process."
Jo Jones, OCJR MIS Project Manager
AWARD is a collaborative web-based software solution designed to support strategic business process applications from procurement applications such as RFx preparation, proposal evaluation, competitive dialogue and supplier review through to bid applications such as story boarding, proposal preparation and red team reviews. Outside acquisition AWARD has been designed to be used on any strategic authoring and review process from environmental assessments, gateway reviews to road-map reviews.
AWARD decisions support, document management and knowledge capture services are delivered through the SAAS model (software as a service) making adoption costs extremely low (it also available as an installed solution). AWARD complements many other systems (such as eSourcing solutions) but improves on general purpose office tools, which tend to be poorly suited to actual collaborative, people based, business processes.
"AWARD streamlined the whole process for us allowing us to concentrate on the content. It was easy to use both by the internal and external individuals and teams involved in the project. The ability to generate audit trail information at will and get regular progress updates gave the project reviewers significant levels of confidence in the whole process. I would definitely use AWARD again in the future projects."
Vickie Lamb, PFI Project Director, Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust
AWARD is proven to reduce time to contract, improve value for money and reduce risk. AWARD has been successfully deployed on strategic procurement projects worth in excess of £50 billion.
"The use of AWARD in the JAMES program has helped us to structure our activity, speed up the process and allowed us to provide clear and transparent reports on the decision making process. It gave us the ability to demonstrate and understand where bidders had failed to address important issues, or where they had been answered inadequately. We plan to use AWARD as the basis for future competitive elements of the ongoing JAMES program."

We recommend that the use of AWARD is crucial to future procurement projects within the Welsh Assembly. We would no longer recommend a paper-based process.
